Tips to Simplify:
Playing (Not Practicing) Structure

  • Warm-ups
  • Play Songs You Already Know with a Special Focus
(i.e. dynamics, straight roads, straight back)
  • Learn Something New with a Twist
(i.e. roll the dice to determine number of repetitions)
  • Goof Around

Twinkle Variation/Mississippi Hop Frog Directions

Here, let's try it this way, if it doesn't work, call me and we'll try it over the phone.
Play and say Mississippi Hop Frog on each of the following keys
1. Thumb (name of the child playing) finger on C, (white key to the left of 2 black keys)....
2. 4th finger (named after sibling or other significant person) on G
3. Pinky finger (named after another significant relative or friend) on A
4. Back to 4th finger, G
5. Daddy; F
6. Mommy; E
7. Thumb; D
8. Thumb; C

1-8 is Called the Bread when building the whole sandwich,....if you want to keep going you can do the Peanut Butter & Jelly
9. 4th Finger on G
10. Daddy on F
11. Mommy on E
12. Thumb on D

Play 9-12 again for the Jelly

Then Play 1-8 for the Bread to complete the Twinkle Variation A/ Mississippi Hop Frog Sandwich.

Variation B/ Hop Roll Hop.  If you'd like to try that, it's the same format, except the rhythm is "hop, roll, hop", on C, then Hop, Roll, Hop on G, as the pattern goes above for the whole sandwich.
